A UK medical doctor is reportedly
going through puberty but don't think Doogie Howser. He is 33 years old. He has a condition which causes his body to produce very little testosterone, the hormone necessary to trigger puberty. As a result he is living in the "body of a 12 year old," has never had an erection and has underdeveloped musculature.
Luckily there is new treatment available which involves surgical implants which release testosterone over a 6 month period. With the treatment, the man will grow body hair, his voice will crack and then deepen, he'll develop muscle and sexual organs. And ... he will begin to mature sexually. There are obvious drawbacks, however - think back to your puberty. The man may possibly experience erections which can last as long as 36 hours. It is one thing to go through this around a bunch of high school girls and quite another to experience it while attending to your medical patients. At least in high school you can develop that habit of carrying your books across your lap. I suppose the doctor will begin wearing one of those white coats a size or three larger than normal.
