For some reason I can't get an image out of my head. A long time ago, my roomate was a paper hanger who was working a construction site at which there were several carpenters busily sawing, hammering, etc. One of the workers severed his finger and as the men raced off to the emergency room, the responsibility of policing up the injured man's lost appendage fell on my roomy. He found it by sifting through a pile of saw dust. Carpentry is work best suited to professionals. It's dangerous working around all those tools.
The Associated Press reports
a carpenter in Oakland, California was arrested for working in the buff when the startled homeowner returned home and called police. The carpenter said he undressed because he didn't want to soil his clothes and working in his birthday suit gave him a better range of motion. He also noted that a skilled craftsman can work like this injury free. He said, "In certain situations such as demolitions where you are smashing rock you want to be clothed and protected because this rock can harm you." But what about the hammers, nails, saws, etc.? Why take the chance? The image I can't get out of my mind is, well never mind. I'll keep it to myself. Please don't try naked carpentry unless you are a skilled professional.
